HOCHTIEF has been awarded a contract to design and expand a 26-kilometer section of the East Link railway line near Stockholm. The project, with an estimated volume of up to around EUR 900 million (9.5 billion SEK), is being developed in collaboration with the client Trafikverket (Swedish transport administrator) as part of a partnership agreement. The subsequent construction phase is scheduled to run until 2034.
Juan Santamaría, CEO of ACS Group and HOCHTIEF: "Our end-to-end capabilities as a leading infrastructure and services provider enable us to deliver high-quality rail assets. With the expansion of this rail link in Sweden, we are making a significant contribution to the growth of efficient and sustainable transport infrastructure in Northern Europe."
The OL31 Vagnhärad project, located southwest of Stockholm, is part of the planned 160-kilometer East Link rail connection between Järna and Linköping. The project involves the design and construction of several tunnels and large bridges as well as a train station.
HOCHTIEF is currently planning, building, and expanding several high-speed rail lines, including a large section of the California High-Speed Rail in the USA and the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project in Australia. As part of the general renovation of the German rail infrastructure network, HOCHTIEF won a major contract from Deutsche Bahn last July to expand a 42-kilometer section of double-track line on the right bank of the Rhine between Wiesbaden and Lorchhausen.

FlatironDragados Advances to Construction Virginia Beach Resiliency Project
FlatironDragados is moving into the construction phase of the $518 million Windsor Woods, Princess Anne Plaza and The Lakes Stormwater Improvements project, following successful completion of a two-year collaborative preconstruction phase with the City of Virginia Beach and design partner Arcadis.
Implementation of the comprehensive flood protection infrastructure program developed by the City of Virginia Beach will protect city assets and meet the needs of the community for generations to come. Especially significant project elements include storm water storage and drainage improvements through the use of large pump stations, tide gates to minimize tidal impacts and maximize storage, and flood barriers along with upgrades to drainage channels.
This project is consistent with FlatironDragados’ strategy to build resiliency infrastructure that protects communities, vital facilities and essential supply chains from increasing climate threats and natural disasters. The project adds to current FlatironDragados resiliency projects:
- The $102 million Storm Surge Upgrade project in Port Arthur, Texas.
- The $1.7 billion North/West Battery Park City Resiliency project in New York City.
- The $251 million Rebuild by Design Hudson River Resiliency project in New Jersey.

Turner Selected for Westcourt Orlando Mixed-Use Development
Turner Construction Company was selected by JMA Ventures to serve as the general contractor for Westcourt Orlando, a transformative 900,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Orlando adjacent to the Kia Center, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
The $500 million development will offer a Kimpton hotel, high-rise residential units, Class A office space, retail, and a live entertainment venue. Designed to create a lively, walkable district, Westcourt Orlando will enhance connectivity and activity around one of the city’s premier sports and entertainment destinations.
Construction of Westcourt Orlando is expected to generate significant economic impact across the region. Early site activity is underway as the team moves toward full mobilization. At peak, the project could support approximately 800 workers onsite, representing roughly 1,600 direct construction jobs over the life of the project. In addition, the project will create opportunities for local subcontractors, with many trade partners expected to come from the Central Florida market. Work packages will be structured to encourage broad participation across multiple project components.
