Thiess Group secures three contracts across gold and critical minerals projects
The Thiess Group has secured three contracts across gold and critical minerals projects in Australia, with new awards at the Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project and Fosterville Gold Mine in Victoria, and an extension at Rosebery Polymetallic Base Metal Mine, Tasmania.
Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project, Victoria
Southern Cross Gold Consolidated Ltd has selected the Thiess Group to deliver the underground decline (tunnel) at its Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project in Victoria.
The contract scope includes portal establishment, primary decline and support services, as well as lateral development.
Fosterville Gold Mine, Victoria
Separately, Agnico Eagle has engaged Thiess to deliver raise boring and shaft lining services for its Fosterville Gold Mine, near Bendigo, Victoria.
The scope includes excavation and lining of a 374 metre deep, raise bore shaft, which forms a key component of the Fosterville Gold Mine’s major ventilation upgrade.
Rosebery Polymetallic Base Metal Mine, Tasmania
Thiess has also signed a two year extension of its shotcrete and cement rockfill contract at MMG’s polymetallic base metal mine in Rosebery, Tasmania.
The original contract of three years has achieved positive safe production outcomes for the client, without a single recordable injury during this time.
Last year, Thiess signed a separate three year contract to provide underground rehabilitation and development at Rosebery, a mine that has been operating continuously for more than 90 years.
The contracts will be delivered by Thiess’ underground metals mining specialist PYBAR.
