Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) has awarded FlatironDragados and its partner Herzog the contract to build the Franconia-Springfield Bypass in Springfield, Virginia. FlatironDragados will draw on its extensive experience in the North American rail sector to build, alongside its partner Herzog, 1.4 miles of new passenger railroad track, including a 0.6 mile long rail flyover. The project will allow both passenger and freight trains to run more safely and efficiently along the rail corridor while alleviating rail disruptions at one of Virginia's most congested points: between Fredericksburg and Washington, D.C. Construction will begin in July 2025 and be completed in 2029.
