
CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has been awarded the Sha Tin Transfer Station Third Follow-On Contract by the Hong Kong SAR Government, to refurbish and upgrade one of the city’s key waste management facilities.
The Sha Tin Transfer Station has been in operation since 1994 and plays an important role in handling municipal solid waste in the New Territories East. The project will modernise the facility and extend its operational life.
The A$272 million project will be delivered in a joint venture with Canvest Environmental Protection Group Company Limited, a subsidiary of Grandblue Environment Co., Ltd., for the Environmental Protection Department of the Government.
The transfer station will remain operational throughout the works, which will be delivered in phases.
